In this AMD Radeon Vega 8 for Fortnite review, we look at AMD’ s integrated graphics performance in the massively popular title. Earlier this year, AMD officially released new drivers which support those integrated graphics cards bringing significant performance increase in various titles.
Prior to that, most users with Ryzen powered systems had to rely on manufacturers for driver support, which can be patchy and sporadic even for big industry players such as HP and Dell. With the release of Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition, Ryzen processors with Vega graphics are now supported. Read on and find out how Vega 8 graphics run Fortnite.
Fortnite at a glance
Fortnite is an online game developed and released by Epic Games in 2017. It was originally released as a strategy focused game known as Save the World. It is a survival action game released for Mac, Windows, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PS4. But it’s the massively popular Fortnite: Battle Royale, a last player standing mode that took off and became a huge hit.
The Battle Royale mode now includes a Creative mode for personalized adventure. The game pits 100 players against each other to see who can survive the longest in the shrinking map. The players can either be solo, duo or in squads of up to 4 players. The last standing player wins.
The game is based on the Unreal Engine 4, same as PUBG, but it has smoother controls compared to the latter. Objects in PUBG do not really shine with crisp textures as in Fortnite, but they are more detailed. The game as a cartoonish style to it and even though violence is persistent, it is not particularly gory or bloody.
In general, the game has more forgiving graphics considering that it is also available in Android. The game has been developed to be accessible even to aging laptops and gaming systems. The game has four presets if you do not want to change settings individually. The presets change several quality settings and the resolution, for example, the low preset is displayed in 480p and the medium in 720p.
AMD Radeon Vega 8 specs

The Ryzen 5 2500 U APU features 8 CUs (512 shaders) and is clocked up to 1100 MHz (Boost).
These are the benchmark results for AMD Radeon Vega 8 for Fortnite review. According to results posted by The NotebookCheck, AMD Radeon Vega 8 average at 112 fps in low settings at 720p resolution. 38 fps in medium at 1080p, 20 fps in high at 1080p and 10 fps in ultra mode at 1080p.
Fortnite: Battle Royale should run at playable framerates in low settings using the AMD Radeon Vega integrated graphics. However, the performance depends on the TDP of the specific model and the type of RAM installed in the system. That is all for our AMD Radeon Vega 8 for Fortnite review.
