The AMD Vega series was released in August 2017 where it featured the RX Vega 56 and the RX Vega 64, the Vega 8’S Ryzen 2500U and 2700U followed shortly. Furthermore, the Nvidia GeForce 10 series was announced in 2014 with the GTX 1050 mobile version being released in January 2017. Read on and find how the AMD APU performs against the Nvidia discrete GPU.

AMD Radeon Vega 8

The AMD RX Vega 8 is an integrated graphics card for laptops that was released by AMD in August 2017. The graphics card is based on the 14 nm fifth generation GCN (Vega architecture) process. The Ryzen 5 PRO 2500U has 4 CPU cores and 8 GPU cores.

The Cores feature 512 shader units and runs at a base frequency of 931 MHz. It can be clocked up to 1100MHz. However, the clock speed and memory configuration depends on the configured TDP (between 12W -25W). The card, being an integrated GPU benefits from the fast dual-channel DDR4 – 2400 system memory configuration. The Vega 8 architecture supports DirectX 12 (12_1) API, Zen core architecture and AMD SenseMI Technology.
